One of the largest and most colorful community-sponsored parades in the Southwest celebrates Mexico’s independence from Spain. Colorfully clad dancers from area ballet folklorico troupes spin down the streets performing to festive Mexican music. The celebration culminates with the crowning of Miss Fiestas Patrias.

S.H.A.P.E. Community Center’s 32nd Annual Pan African Festival

This year’s event will be an all day festival from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. showcasing many of Houston’s notable as well as emerging performing cultural and visual artists, craft exhibits, and a variety of informational displays and presentations.

The continuing purpose of this annual festival is to provide the local community of Third Ward and the Greater Houston Community free, family-oriented and quality entertainment in celebration of our diverse heritage. The Pan African Cultural Festival will provide a safe and a wholesome environment as a positive option for the long holiday weekend.
