On June 2, straight from Manhattan’s prestigious Carlyle Hotel, Loston Harris will be the featured entertainer for Houston’s The New Summer Standard black tie event to celebrate National Cancer Survivors Day 2011. All proceeds from this event will benefit CancerForward, founded one year ago on National Cancer Survivors Day. Harris is lauded as one of today’s greatest jazz artists who has comfortably adapted to something of Frank Sinatra’s staccato. His playing derives from Nat King Cole, Eartha Kitt, Rosemary Clooney and Bobby Short. In fact, second only to Bobby Short, no one has reigned longer at the Carlyle Hotel, where for 10 years he has ruled Bemelmans Bar.
